happy halloween
look. monster toes. gross.
ingredients: cocktail wieners, 6-inch tortillas, ketchup, toothpicks
directions: heat the oven to 350 degrees. cut a wedge into the end of each cocktail wiener to make a toenail. cut the tortillas into strips about 4 inches long and 3/4 inch wide. discard the ends. soften the strips in the microwave between damp paper towels for 10 to 30 seconds. roll each wiener in a tortilla strip and secure with a toothpick. bake for 7 to 8 minutes. remove them from the oven, then fill the toenail with ketchup. remove the toothpicks before serving.

My mom likes this one - she uses a bread/pretzel dough and forms it into knobby finger shapes. Then she places an almond that she paints with red food color into the end of the dough before cooking and sprinkles them with sea salt. Ta da - Witches Fingers! I think they'd make a nice accompaniment to Monster Toes. Happy Halloween!
yep - that's pretty gross! but very creative, I must say! :) Check out these "cheddar witch's fingers" from Sunset Magazine too - might be a nice compliment to monster toes :)
