guess what?!?

i sold two pieces of art this weekend! yay! my first sales! well, technically one other piece has been sold, but it was at a charity auction and i don't know for how much or to who (whom?). whatever. anyway, this time i know who bought them (thank you b!) and for how much ($$$!). he had me make two for his girlfriend for valentine's day. so nice!

one he wanted to be red and black for the university of georgia (below). the other he wanted to be professional looking ... she's a lawyer (above). i did the georgia one first. i used lots of layers of fun ribbon in reds and whites and blacks. the professional one i wanted to match colorwise in case she wanted to hang them together (which is what i would do). i tried to find a great pinstripe, but it just didn't work in the space. so instead, i found a modified paisley. i used one small strip of the ribbon from the uga one as the belt and then tied a super skinny glossy black ribbon for the bow. i also used three crystals for the shoes (not sure if you can tell from the pictures).

How wonderful! Your first real art sale - and commissioned work no less! And how thoughtful was it for that guy to come up with this sweet surprise for his girlfriend for v-day?
Congratulations!

So cute! I'm absolutely serious that if you could come up with some kind of writing design I'd love to talk about buying it! Drop my blog email a line if you are interested.

Holly, I've left a comment twice. I think the last time was when my baby spit up and I wasn't able to send it. Anyway, there was a BIG congrats there and they just look stellar. What a milestone. Where's your Etsy store?
